Shopify App Pricing Index —
54 Apps, Sourced and Dated

54 paid Shopify apps, their published monthly cost, and a free replacement for each. Prices are read from vendor pricing pages, never from comparison sites. 27 records carry a check date and a source link, 3 were checked and deliberately not recorded, and 24 have not been checked yet.

What has actually been checked

This index was populated on 2026-07-24 with figures that had not been sourced, and has been checked in three sweeps since. It is not finished, and the useful thing to publish is which parts are not finished rather than a table that looks uniformly authoritative.

Verification sweeps
Date Records verified
2026-08-08 3
2026-08-11 11
2026-08-23 13
2026-08-23 3 checked, deliberately not recorded — see below

The sweeps went category by category and did not reach the end of the list. Not one app has been checked in 6 of the 19 categories: Automation & Integration (Celigo) , Inventory optimization (Stockful: Inventory Management) , Referral Program (ReferralCandy) , SEO Optimization (Booster SEO, Avada SEO, Plug in SEO) , SMS Marketing (Postscript, Attentive) and Site Search (Searchanise, Boost Commerce, Fast Simon) . If you need a figure in one of those, treat the number in the table as indicative and check the vendor yourself.

Worse than undated: 18 records still carry the figure they were populated with on 2026-07-24 — 43 days ago as of 2026-09-05 — never sourced and never even revised since. They are marked not yet checked in the table and they emit no structured price. A further 6 unchecked records were revised in a sweep without being verified, mostly because the vendor turned out not to publish a price at all.

Checked, and deliberately not recorded

These pricing pages were opened on 2026-08-23 and the figure was not recorded, because what they showed could not be stated as a plain fact. A hold is not a gap in the work — it is the work. Publishing why a number is unavailable is more useful than publishing a number that would need a caveat every time it is quoted, and it is the only part of this index that cannot be reproduced by guessing.

Verified, but the source page carries a different brand

How these prices are collected

One rule underneath all of the following: a figure is what a named source said on a named date, or it is not recorded. There is no house estimate, no “typical”, and no averaging of what other comparison sites publish. Our general sourcing rules are on how we test; what follows is specific to app pricing.

Where the figure comes from

In strict order of preference, stopping at the first that yields an unambiguous number: the vendor's own public pricing page; the vendor's in-app billing screen; the app's Shopify App Store listing. If none of those gives a figure that can be stated plainly, nothing is recorded and the record says why. Comparison sites, press coverage, cached copies and the vendor's sales collateral are never used, because a price is a fact with an address and those are all somebody's summary of it.

In practice the first tier has so far been enough: every one of the 27 verified records was read from the vendor's own domain, and the source column shows which. The lower tiers are the stated fallback, not a description of work already done.

What counts as the entry price on a tiered plan

The lowest paid tier that actually includes the function the app is bought for — not the cheapest row on the pricing table if that row excludes the feature. Where the vendor names the tier, the name is recorded beside the figure and shown under it in the table, because a bare figure is not quotable and a named plan is. Monthly billing is used unless the vendor sells annual-only, in which case the table says so. Per-seat pricing is recorded per seat and labelled. Usage and transaction fees are stated alongside the figure, never folded into it: Recharge is a monthly fee plus a percentage and a per-transaction charge, and a single blended number would be a number we invented. An open-ended record ends in “+”, which means the floor is sourced and the ceiling is not.

Free tiers

A free tier is not a price, and is not recorded as one. “Free” in the cost column means the app is genuinely usable at no cost for the job this index is comparing it on. An app with a free tier that does not cover that job is recorded at its paid floor, because quoting $0 for a plan nobody can actually run the workload on is the most flattering-to-the-vendor error available. Where a free tier exists beneath a recorded paid floor, the per-app page says so.

Promotions

Never recorded. A promotional price is a fact about a date, not about the product, and an index whose figures expire silently is worse than one with gaps. When a pricing page shows only a discounted price and the list price cannot be read unambiguously beside it, the record is held and the reason is published. That is not hypothetical — it is exactly what happened to Omnisend on 2026-08-23, and it is the first entry in the holds above.

Currency, and what gets no figure at all

USD, as published. A vendor who does not publish in USD is recorded as not publishing a USD price rather than converted, because a conversion is our arithmetic on their number and it is stale the day after. An app whose vendor publishes no price at all reads “Not publicly listed” and emits no structured price — that is a statement about the vendor's disclosure, not about affordability. A record marked not yet checked is a statement about us.

How this index has been revised

Every change to a recorded figure since the index was populated, 32 in total. Read the labels carefully, because this is not a price history. Not one row below is a vendor moving its price. All 32 are us revising our own record after reading a source — 20 figures corrected, 7 withdrawn once it turned out the vendor publishes no such price, 4 narrowed from an open-ended floor to an exact entry price, and 1 app added. A genuine vendor-side change would be labelled vendor change; the first one has yet to happen on our watch.

9 of those revisions moved a figure up and 10 moved it down. Both directions are published. Katana went from an open-ended guess to a higher, sourced figure, which makes the app we recommend replacing look more expensive than we had been saying and makes our own earlier number look careless — that is the entry most worth having here, and a clean table would not contain it.

Newest first. “Was” is what this site published before the change.

Download the dataset

Both files carry all 54 records with the status, source URL, check date and hold reason for each. They are generated from the same data this page renders, at build time, so they cannot drift from the table above. CC BY 4.0 — use them, including commercially, with attribution.

/downloads/shopify-app-pricing-index.csv — one row per app, CRLF, quoted
/downloads/shopify-app-pricing-index.json — the same rows, plus the coverage counts and the full revision log

Fields

Read this before treating a null as missing data. Nulls in the date and source columns are load-bearing: they mark the 24 records nobody has checked, and they are the honest encoding of that rather than an export bug.

Field Meaning
id Stable slug. Also the last path segment of detail_url.
name The app's name as the vendor writes it.
category Our categorisation, not the Shopify App Store’s.
monthly_cost Display text, not a number — "$99", "$45+", "Free", "Not publicly listed". Parse it, do not assume a figure.
price_plan The named plan the figure belongs to. Null where no figure is recorded, or where the vendor names no tier.
price_status verified | held | unchecked. See the three states above.
price_verified_date ISO date a human read the figure on the vendor page. Null unless price_status is verified.
price_checked_date ISO date a held record was checked. Null unless price_status is held.
price_source_url The exact page the figure was read from. Null unless price_status is verified.
price_held_reason Why a checked figure was not recorded. Null unless price_status is held.
brand_change_note Set where the source page is published under a different brand than the app. Currently Elevar only.
replacement The free or cheaper approach we document in place of this app.
replacement_url Where that approach is written up.
detail_url The per-app page. Noindexed by design; it is a reference, not a landing page.

If you quote a figure from this index, quote the date with it — a price without a date is not a fact, and every record here carries one precisely so that it can be repeated honestly.

The “as of” date above is 2026-08-23, the most recent verification sweep — not today's date, and not the date the page was last edited. Records verified on 2026-08-08 are older than that and the table says so per row. If you need a figure to be current, the source link in each row is the page to re-read; if a record has moved since we checked it, we would rather hear about it than have it sit here. Corrections go to the address on how we test.

On these figures: vendors change prices without notice, and 3 sweeps across 54 apps is not continuous monitoring. A date in the Source column links to the page the figure was read from on that date. Rows marked not yet checked have never been read against a live vendor page and may be stale — treat them as indicative. Re-check before making a purchasing decision.
